About Eric Carle

Eric Carle is an acclaimed and beloved creator of brilliantly illustrated and innovatively designed picture books for young children. Since The Very Hungry Caterpillar was published in 1969 he has illustrated more than 70 books most of which he also wrote. Eric and his wife Barbara currently divide their time between the Florida Keys and the hills of Western Massachusetts. With more than 125 million copies of Eric Carle books sold worldwide in 32 languages Eric Carle is one of the most beloved children's book illustrators. His work appeals to all age groups and his fanbase spans two generations. Parents and young kids both adore his work including teachers and librarians. The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Art opened in Nov 2002 and has established itself as a rich resource for those interested in the art of the picture book.
