Walking Wales: The Art Lover''s Guide to Wye Valley Way
English
The Wye Valley Way is a marked route covering 136 miles from Chepstow to the source of the River Wye in Plynlimon, Snowdonia. Mainly in Wales, veering off slightly into England for the Hereford section, it covers different terrain from flatter levels near the river to steep climbs up through forest either side of the valley. The book follows the author''s trek along the route over 15 days, stopping off at pre-booked accommodation each night - definitely not camping. Not just a journal about the walk, but also notes about the towns and places of interest along the way including Monmouth, Ross on Wye, Hay and Glasbury, Rhayader and Llangurig. The unique addition to the book, as hard copy and electronic version, is the inclusion of old paintings and photographs from the National Library of Wales collections dating back to the 18th century alongside photographs taken during the trip. This is a valuable addition to any collection aimed at the growing number of hikers visiting Wales, with practical tips on how to plan for such a trek, get into training physically, and even how to ensure you have no blisters (socks inside out).
