About Charles Wellesley

Charles Wellesley Marquess of Douro heir to the 8th Duke of Wellington has spent his whole life surrounded by images of Arthur 1st Duke of Wellington at Apsley House in London and Stratfield Saye House in Hampshire. Lord Douro read Politics Philosophy and Economics at Oxford and has been a member of the European Parliament and a Commissioner of English Heritage. He is Chairman of the Council of King's College London. Lord Douro is Chairman of Richemont Holdings UK a director of Richemont in Switzerland and of Sanofi in France Abengoa in Spain and of RIT Capital plc in London. David Cannadine is a British historian and commentator on British public life. He also serves as the general editor of the Penguin History of Europe series.
