Can we continue as we have, or must we change? 

Einstein said that repeating the same action over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. In John Fast's world, the two things which stand as shining examples of insanity are addiction and war.  

After spending years in warzones and after over thirty years as a recovering alcoholic, John has come to see the similarities between the stories told by our political leaders as they rationalise and justify their endless wars, and the stories told by chronic drunks all over the world as they rationalise and justify the insanity which is prevalent in their lives.  

Why would we, the people of the world, choose to continue following either drunks or fools? 

In You Can't Stop Love, John Fast suggests that despite the 'story' we are told, mankind's insanity is a spiritual problem which requires a spiritual (not religious) solution. We can continue to be driven deeper into the insanity of our leader's egos, or we can be guided by the love of our own souls.
