About Andrew Rishworth
Andrew Rishworth was born in the West Riding of Yorkshire in the midst of a Bradford City seven-game losing streak while the Beeching Axe was in full swing. Things could only get better.Like most football fans Andrew''''s choice of team was an accident of geography and history. A loan spell at Leicester City led to a temporary transfer to London during the 1980s. Despite living in the Home Counties for more than thirty years this loan move has yet to become permanent. Throughout this time the railway has provided an umbilical link back to the Motherland. Andrew is now more homing pigeon than Bantam.Every young boy dreams about becoming either a professional footballer or a train driver. In following the fortunes of Bradford City it''''s about as close as Andrew came to the former occupation but at least he is able to ride the dream every other week. After over forty years of following the Bantams he has made in the order of 700 appearances at Bradford City fixtures at over 120 league grounds. Although yet to do the ninety-two he does have European experience with the Bantams.Andrew has two children and despite their disadvantage of geography it is not enough to compensate for the accident of history and so they too follow the fortunes of Bradford City.
